These Chinese benches are known as 'Spring Benches', these pretty benches used to be seen outside shops and small restaurants in China and were used by both staff and customers to enjoy the fresh air. This bench is constructed from red elm (zelkova) wood and is from the Eastern coast of China. It has a lovely patina showing its age of over 120 years. There are remnants of the original burgundy lacquer. 

Please note that the legs of all these benches are splayed.
